There’s a difference in being insecure about your looks as an individual and being insecure about your looks because of your ethnicity. One is the self-imposed shame of one person while the other is the socially imposed shame of an entire people. And even the insecurity of our individual looks is influenced by the shame of belonging to or perceiving to belong to a group: female-bodied, male-bodied, genderless, people of size, lower income families, etc.

No image is just a personal preference.
